In 2004 Jonathan Jolly released a DVD called Completing the Circle, a documentary about the UK juggling scene filmed over 6 months in 2003. It's a wonderful snapshot of the UK juggling scene at the time, with great footage from various conventions and interviews with many of the jugglers who were on the scene during this period. Jonathan has now decided to make this lost project freely available to the juggling community. Here are some thoughts from Jonathan on the project: "In the time I spent in the UK chronicling the antics of the juggling community, I had many people tell me that the more conventions they went to, the less actual juggling they did. Social interaction overtook the juggling. How could this be? In a way, this was the question I was addressing in making this movie. I never get tired of highlight videos, showing insane tricks that seem superhuman, but what happens after the clubs and balls get put down? What do jugglers talk about? Why bother going to conventions at all? The colorful characters I met during my 6 month stay all but answered this question for me. Not only is the juggling at conventions a delight, but the bonds between the attendees are truly special. Completing the Circle is, for me, an examination of this bond. Much like the TV sitcom that is funnier when watched in a big rowdy group, juggling is way more exciting when in a big room full of jugglers. Filmed between February and July 2003, you'll see the British Convention in Brighton, along with the Scottish Convention and numerous ones in between. The British jugglers should be very proud of what they have over there. I couldn't have asked for a better experience."
