The hatstand made its debut at chocfest 7, where I was compering. After a period of prototyping and refining, I built the version that worked. I demoed this a couple of times then it broke. I replaced the elastic and set it up for the big day, used it on stage and it worked, then broke next time I used it.
Be prepared to spend significant tinkering time in between uses, and for frequent breakdowns. That said, it's never let me down when I've needed it.
All in all I've found it a great way to get chicks[1], if you don't count the long evenings spent honing the design and strewing the house with geeky construction equipment, and the fact you'll be laughed out of most nightclubs if you go in wearing a topper. But on stage it works, and it has drawn admiring glances from fellow jugglers and even won us a bag full of croissants on one occasion.

Due to my job as a circus performer, between February 2012 and February 2013, I was fortunate enough to discover many different places of the world...
This video is a compilation of footage shot throughout my travels.

Just a single trick because I can't really do an edit right now (I have RSI or something). From big cup, the trick goes: juggle to lighthouse - fast-hand big cup - big cup juggle - 2x arm bounce - spike - earth turn to bird fly over the valley - fast-hand 1-turn lunar - spike.

This was my first and only endurance practise session. I do juggle often and for a long time but I thought endurance was quite boring. But because some friends asked me to do endurance I finally took one afternoon and what you can watch right now is the third of three tries of 7 ball cascade endurance run.

This is part 1 of my second official juggling video. I have now been juggling for 16 months. Shots in this video were taken from many different locations including Colorado, Virginia, New Jersey, and Souderton, Pennsylvania (my hometown). And a special thank you to Peter Brubaker for teaching me how to juggle and giving me video editing tips that made this video way better than the first one. Evgeni Biljauer (b. 1947) was one of the 3 top Russian solo jugglers in the latter part of the 20th Century.
This clip is from a TV special called The Great Russian Circus Spectacular. I don't know the actual date, but his age (and clothes) put it in the early 1970s.
