A little doublestaff compilation from a training session early this year.
I'm not quite sure how to describe this style. Some people just call it old school spinning. I'd like to coin it power spinning if i may.... sounds like a fitness fad though..
Shot in the training room of Cirque du Soleil's Zaia show, which was at the Venetian Macau before sadly shutting down in March this year.

There are no prerequisites for learning headrolls, grab a ball and start practicing those stalls from day one./nStep 1 is semi-optional./nHead dents WILL occur, they are temporary and should be encouraged/nGood luck, these require patience but they are so so so worth it. Spirit Bomb Yo-Yo Trick Instructional Video demonstrated by Luke Renner. Note: this video uses a non-breakaway mount. The breakaway is the standard throw for the trick. If you're learning tricks for a sports ladder contest practice the breakaway toss to start the trick the other steps are the same. The forward pass throw used in this demonstration gives extra momentum and spin time for completing the trick. The audio is intentionally left out on this video.
Yo-Yo used in the demo is a Yoyofactory Speed Dial. Footage shot in Northwest New Mexico on 8/28/10 by Filmmakers George Thomas and Thomas LaRue. Trick details: Spirit Bomb is a yo-yo trick originated by Jeff Longoria. Trick name originates from the game Dragon Ball Z. An ambidextrous version of Chopabout, using the turn from Dolby Sörroundabout. The pattern is period 11, although for all 3 people to do each part with both hands takes 66 throws. We do just over an entire round of the pattern (77 throws).
In chopabout you do some substitutions, then roundabout out to allow a new juggler to be the manipulator. By turning out in the same way as in Dolby Sörroundabout you can switch to left handed chopabout - doing the switch on every turn gives the pattern shown Chopped Dolby.
