Wanted to try and make some little routines that don't tread on the same old ground as usual. To mixed results. There's still a lot of ways to do things that haven't been found yet...

This was my selection video for the Japanese Juggling Festival championships. Unfortunately, I just found out it wasn't good enough to get through...in case you were wondering, up to 2 or 3 misses is generally fine, I felt like the end was small enough to forgive. As for next year, I'll try again, and now this vid is out there I need some harder tricks...

My friend Jamie who is currently studying film in Newfoundland came into town for a few days. Long enough to come up with some ideas and do some fun shooting. There's some ideas I've been working on for a while, some stuff we came up with on the spot and some technical things as well.

I REALLY hate wind. I seriously gave up on this video after I had about 30 minutes of footage but only 10 seconds of tricks, because the rest of the footage was of me waiting for the wind to die down so I can continue. I put my rings in the car then headed to a new area to do the contact juggling video. Then I found out the new area is blocked off with trees so there was barely any wind. So I went back and grabbed my rings and shot most of this video down there./nI always forget something, last month I forgot those behind the back catches, this month I forgot some multiplex 4 ring starting tricks. I should write down all the tricks I have to do before I head out.../nAs for this video, I like how it came out besides the choppiness when I do 4 and 5 rings./nThe song is Coming Undone by Korn.

The hatstand made its debut at chocfest 7, where I was compering. After a period of prototyping and refining, I built the version that worked. I demoed this a couple of times then it broke. I replaced the elastic and set it up for the big day, used it on stage and it worked, then broke next time I used it. Be prepared to spend significant tinkering time in between uses, and for frequent breakdowns. That said, it's never let me down when I've needed it. All in all I've found it a great way to get chicks[1], if you don't count the long evenings spent honing the design and strewing the house with geeky construction equipment, and the fact you'll be laughed out of most nightclubs if you go in wearing a topper. But on stage it works, and it has drawn admiring glances from fellow jugglers and even won us a bag full of croissants on one occasion. It is made of some old clips I found in my coputer. I don´t know how to delete the DIVX logo :( It´s nothing extra, I know: There is a bad lighting and location. I move a lot while juggling. Tricks are boring and simple. Just some basic editing... I just want to have some video before my big summer video...
