Hold the hat by the brim with your left hand so that the crown of the hat is facing away from you. Take the stick in your right hand.
With a flick of your wrist, throw the hat up slightly so that it starts spinning anti-clockwise. As the hat descends, hit the brim with the stick slightly to the right of center, such that the stick curves slightly upwards and outwards. This will cause the hat to spin as it rises into the air. As it descends again, repeat the hitting action.
The idea of the basic spin is to keep the hat in the air by hitting it repeatedly with the stick in this manner. I find it helps if you look at the top portion of the inside of the hat.
Adjusting the spin rate and direction:
Hitting the hat nearer the center will give you a slower spin and more height, nearer the edge will give you a faster spin but less height. Obviously striking the left side of the brim will reverse the spin and cause the hat to go clockwise.

I can't do this move yet so here's a description from Tim:
Bacisally this move is just a way of combining a full steve & a matrix into one move. As the staff rolls down the left arm you need it to roll so the centre is a couple of inches infront of the arm (too much and the staff will speed up, too little and the staff won't make it round). The staff then goes round the left shoulder, round the neck and rolls up the right arm. As the staff gets to the top you propeller round the right wrist then let it roll back down the right arm. This is where it gets hard (espcially if you want it to feel smooth). As the staff rolls down the right arm you need to roll it so the centre moves behind the arm then roll it round the right shoulder round the throat and back up the left arm. It's tempeting to bring the staff round the right arm before it gets to the shouder but it don't look as good and it doesn't have the same flow to it).
In short the move goes 1/4 steve - 1/2 matrix - 1/2 steve -1/2 matrix - 1/4 steve enjoy

I deeply love bbb but I had to stop practicing it long ago (2008) due to sustained wrist injuries and alas there is no videos of me in my prime.
Adam inspired me to film a few old tricks at Turbo so tonight I grabbed my balls for the first time since 2011 and tried to film them. I managed to learn a new one and do another one for the first time ever! This video contains those, a few old 3bbb tricks and a few 4bbb clips from 2011 when I failed to start seriously again (you can see the evolution of my beard)./n It's been a pleasure to see the new kids push the boundaries and I have no regret, thanks to my injuries I've started rings and rarely look back upon my bbb days even though they were amazing moments. So it's with no shame that I announce my official retirement from the bbb world, have fun doing it, I'll the happy to join you for a few seconds once in a while. /nThanks a lot for all your support in my challenge with Norbi, I've got 90 new suscribers in 3 days and 700 to go in 10 days! Hey everyone.Been working pretty hard to keep up with juggling now I'm back to university. This video covers most of the styles of juggling I currently work on. Credit goes to Lewis for coming up with the insane 771 variations!/nAlso, the current plan is to make David leahy 7 by spring; I have even started filming it! I also hope to be making some pretty big videos in the summer with some shreddies so look forward to that!

wow, for such a quick trick this is really hard and doesn't even look that good. sure is fun when you land it though. right wrap->left unwrap->push on string with right hand, stick in front of string, let go of sticks->catch string of the sticks in their original hands, and you're in crackers position.
