Contact Juggling 11-24-2010

rdsqc22

Three months of practice, 4 hours a day: My first ever contact juggling video! Poorly edited by me :D I really, really wish that I didn't have that habit of sticking out my tongue when concentrating. Something to work on...

(Re-upload: a clearer version of JTV #148) Victor Ponce is an Argentinian circus juggler, known for boomerang hats and very fast club juggling. I like this clip because it starts with the rarely seen ball & sticks (Japanese origin). ball & sticks, head bounce with skipping, 3 tambourines, 3 & 5 clubs, 3 & 4 boomerang hats

Suit & Tie Ball juggling & devilsticking

Swift707

3 Ball juggling and devilstick video I did to the song Suit & Tie by Justin Timberlake. I played around with a few different editing things to give it an old school feel. Routine/flow starts around 55 seconds or so. Check out my smoothness until once again I have a silly drop. Check it out, leave comments, follow me here or on youtube @ GregoryGazzano…just look up the name. Oh Remember to not where a suit and tie on a hot day! LOL

Foot Fishtails

Sandy

As you can see in the vid the right leg works very much like the left arm in a conveyorbelt. When you get the staff onto the foot you need to turn into the staff so you end up in backwards fishtails. Once your into the fishtails you really need to turn your whole body each half beat to get it smooth (no easy task when your balancing on one leg and trying not to make jerky movements with the other).

Fishtail Transfers and 360 Fishtails

Sandy

Fishtail transfers are when you go straight from forwards fishtail to backwards (or vice versa). These are a good way of getting your fishies nice and tight. Also once you have these you can do 360 Fishtails cos you just keep turning the same way.

Neck Propellers

Sandy

I learnt these trying to get the matrix. The way you lean and shift your body is very similar to how you would for a matrix but easier. I go in from a horizontal pivot because it gets the staff nicly in plane. Once the staff is on your neck lean away from the staff and let it spin around the back of your neck. Then do the same in the other direction to get it back round the front. Useing your shoulders to push the staff round can help.

Propeller Fishtails

Sandy

Once you've got fishtails these arn't too difficult. At the end of every beat do 1 vertical propeller (wrap round your wrist) and fishtail back to the other side.

Clubabout

Ed_Clark

Roundabout varient where one club has to remain over a certain point on the floor. Similar to tessabout in concept, but instead of a "lazy person" who wont move, there is a lazy club who won't traverse the gym. Possibly it had too much to eat at dinner.

Tricks With Hats: Backseat

TricksWithHats

Backseat - A pair of throws and catches that Mike discovered while sitting in the back of a car. Grab the side of a hat in a pinch grip, and carry it down in front of you so the crown is downwards. Flick it up so it spins 360 degrees, and catch it in another pinch grip at the back of the hat. Quickly push it up and forward, spinning the hat 180 degrees and catch in a pinch grip once again. Stick it back on your head. To perform the trick most effectively aim for one slick movement rather than two separate parts. From the TricksWithHats archive

Tricks With Hats: Thumb Spins

TricksWithHats

Thumb Spins - Spin the hat around your thumb Hold the hat in an inside grip and spin it so the top of the brim stays in contact with the thumb. After a single spin catch it again in an inside grip. Once you've mastered singles try longer spins. This trick is very versatile and can be used to add lots of flourishes. Try adding one in anywhere that you use an inside grip, or just throw one in with your hand outstretched or up above your head. From the TricksWithHats archive

Tricks With Hats: Finger Spin

TricksWithHats

It's easier to spin a ball on your finger than a hat, so click here to learn to spin a ball first. Once you've got that solid it should be easy to transfer the skill over to your hat. It's easier with a bowler as the hat will dent slightly and sit on the finger better.

Tricks With Hats: Dynamic Arm Tumble

TricksWithHats

Hold the hat by the brim in an outside grip with the crown facing forwards. Swing your arm up infront of you, until your hand is about eye level, with the hat tilting slightly upwards. If you let go at the top of the swing, the hat's momentum should carry it through, and it will roll down your arm. The movement that follows is similar to the one arm tumble. Look down your arm, tuck your chin in, and raise your arm slightly so that the hat rolls downhill and on to your head. Once you can do that, try throwing the hat from your left hand, and using the right hand to guide it into a dynamic arm tumble.

TricksWithHats: Plates - Thumb spins

TricksWithHats

Hold the plate by it's edge and spin it so that the rim stays in contact with your thumb. After a single spin catch it again. Once you've mastered singles try longer spins. This trick is very versatile and can be used to add lots of flourishes. From the TricksWithHats archive
