This video is a short showcase of some of the results of months of research in ring manipulation. The video was shot in just a few short hours with a mobile phone camera and without the aid of a camera man but was expertly edited by Hannah Martin. Getting closer to my goal of 10 seconds.
The images at the start from left to right are Enrico Rastelli (1920s), Leon Rabello (1936) and Paolo Bedini (1943).
The machine learning shows a genetic algorithm evolving a multi-layer perceptron neural network controller to perform the balance in 2 dimensions. A 2D rigid-body physics engine was used for the simulation. The performance of each trial was assessed based on the time balanced and the average 'uprightness' of the stack over the duration of the balance.

The final part of the "Rhythm" trilogy, palm spinning as graphic manipulation.
I wanted to show also some new ideas that i work on, so some patterns are clean some are not.
New techniques used in here:
- quarter spins
- individual changes of the starting point (point of control)
- 1/8 spins (the diagonal spin-spin & anti-spin, the "cross" & the "X")
- perpendicular spin-spin and anti-spin
- advanced phantom patterns using the techniques above
