Tricks With Hats: Wipe up

TricksWithHats

Place the inside of the elbow against the forehead and duck your head down out of the hat. The little drop to the side in the video clip is based on a move normally done with plates. This trick links nicely to levitation.

plate spinning - Cirque de Demain 1980

bad1dobby

Short clip of plate spinning on table from 4th Cirque de Demain 1980. The spinner is from the Cairo Circus School. It's only a short clip, but has some nice close-ups of the spinning technique. This type of plate spinning used to be called "waltzing plates".

Manuel Alvarez - Pista de Estrellas ca.1990

bad1dobby

Manuel Alvarez. Spanish circus juggler. The king of kickups! 5 & 7 rings, 3 & 4 clubs (lots of kickups), 2-4 boomerangs, 3-7 boomerang plates ... and one very vocal ringmaster! I believe this is from Spanish TV series Pista de Estrellas, which makes it around 1990.

Senor Weñces ventriloquism & juggling on Ed Sullivan Show

bad1dobby

Senor Wences was a brilliant ventriloquist. This is one of his many appearances on the Ed Sullivan Show - he appeared on the show 23 times over its long life. Juggling was part of his act, and there are lots of clips online showing him doing the tray spinning, but this one contains more juggling than I've seen in any other clip. He lived to age 103, and was still performing (in Sugar Babies) at the age of 90!

Trixie Larue on ice... in colour!

bad1dobby

The astonishing Trixie Larue on ice. In glorious colour!! Ball spinning, head bouncing, 3 hats, 6 plates and a head bounce, ball and mouthstick, and fine row of 6 backflips (on skates!) to cap it off. Found on home movies from The Maxwells - Australian comedy acrobatic duo, who worked in the Ice Capades with her.

TricksWithHats: Plates - Turnover

TricksWithHats

Hold the plate flat in your left hand, bring your right hand up and over the plate, cross your arms and put the heel of your right hand against the underside of the plate's rim. Bring your right hand up and turn it over so that plate ends up flat in the palm of your right hand. If you turn this round it becomes the Forward Turnover From the TricksWithHats archive

TricksWithHats: Plates - Turnover behind the back

TricksWithHats

A variation of the simple turnover: Start with the plate flat in your right hand. Throw it slightly, and while it's airborne turn your right hand so that the heel of the hand contacts the underside of the left rim of the plate as it descends. Push upwards and over with your hand and turn it over so that the plate comes to rest back in your palm. From the TricksWithHats archive

TricksWithHats: Plates - Twistover

TricksWithHats

Start with plate flat on your right hand. Swing it in a full anti-clockwise circle, twisting your wrist over at the top so the plate finishes back in its original position with your shoulder and wrist twisted to support it. Reverse the move to unkink your arm. It's also possible to stop the plate at the top of the circle and bring it back down the way it came. From the TricksWithHats archive

TricksWithHats: Plates - Two handed curl

TricksWithHats

Start with a normal right handed upward curl and as soon as the palm is facing forward at the top reach the left hand over and put it onto plate to the right of the right hand. Curl both hands round the front of the plate, which comes down in front of the belly, and then continue to bring the hands round to the back, pushing the plate back up to the left. Take the right hand off and do a left handed downward curl. From the TricksWithHats archive

Monobolo prototype 2007

Samuli

Monobolo is one sided diabolo that really works. This is old prototype of it. I wanted to make act with like 20 monobolos in similar way that you spin plates on a stick but with one sided diabolos, I also wanted to be able to do regular diabolo tricks with those as well. I knew there wasn't prop for that in stores so I asked Jürgen Kreisz to do that kind of thing because I really liked his diabolo kits. I think he had plans for that kind of thing already... Anyway I got the prototype and this is basicly first test video of it. Nothing special. Then Jürgen made more and we sold many in FDC. While selling these things we gave it a name monobolo. And that is sweet. Fun toy. I haven't made the act I planned, I bet it would be boring and stupid.
