Interception line changes are immediate - the juggler and manipulator swap line before the next beat. So, even if it is a 1 beat intercept with a line instruction after it, the juggler and manipulator change lines first, then read the line change instruction afterwards. They follow both instructions, but the order is important. So if a manipulator line showed at the end of the line: iB => M the juggler who was B up until the last instruction becomes M because of the intercept (iB) and then they stay M because of the (=> M).

Three Hat Cascade - Ring Style - Juggling 3 hats in a cascade, throwing them as you would rings.
1. Learn to juggle 3 balls. See the IJDb tutorials page. Sorry non-jugglers, but it'll help a lot.
2. Throw each hat with a flick of the wrist to give it some stabilising spin. Catch the hats palm-upwards, in an inside grip. Rotate the wrist inwards 180 degrees before the next throw.

I'm Toddington from the UK. I started up Diabolo 9 months ago when I started travelling Sri Lanka and India. The internet was terrible so I've been learning from books until now. Hold the hat with the crown to the outside in an outside grip. Bring it across the body, and cross the arms. Flick the hat over and drop it onto the thumb of the catching hand. Uncross the arms.
The hat is now held in an outside grip in the other hand, which suggests that the tumble would be a good next move.

The hatstand made its debut at chocfest 7, where I was compering. After a period of prototyping and refining, I built the version that worked. I demoed this a couple of times then it broke. I replaced the elastic and set it up for the big day, used it on stage and it worked, then broke next time I used it.
Be prepared to spend significant tinkering time in between uses, and for frequent breakdowns. That said, it's never let me down when I've needed it.
All in all I've found it a great way to get chicks[1], if you don't count the long evenings spent honing the design and strewing the house with geeky construction equipment, and the fact you'll be laughed out of most nightclubs if you go in wearing a topper. But on stage it works, and it has drawn admiring glances from fellow jugglers and even won us a bag full of croissants on one occasion.

A little free performance I did at the JJF. I didn't have much time to make it but I tried to throw in some harder stuff than my championship routine to test it out. Gonna work on completely new tricks for next year and keep them out of videos so there's a bit more impact when seeing them, a lot of this stuff has been done to death now.

This was my selection video for the Japanese Juggling Festival championships. Unfortunately, I just found out it wasn't good enough to get through...in case you were wondering, up to 2 or 3 misses is generally fine, I felt like the end was small enough to forgive. As for next year, I'll try again, and now this vid is out there I need some harder tricks...

Slight change of pace compared to part 1, focusing on tricks which involve use of the floor or other flat surfaces. There are quite a lot of variations but most tend to be pretty boring to look at, so I left a few other things out./nNext week, manipulation style stuff using on the hands!
