The Black Room 4

Ed_Clark

Throw in tricks were a bit of a theme... as was Pingu. Also, we got 1 round of the first galloped manipulator pattern where everybody gets to be in every position. More galloped manipulator patterns (and more rounds) will follow. See also https://www.facebook.com/trickychicksco/videos/178834085959616/ for a gallop manipulation where the manipulator doesn't change, but still very cool. Trap N' Roll (One Year of Club Juggling)

lucasadverse

I decided to try clubs and this is a compilation of all the best doable ideas I had in one year of practice. Most of these ideas involve traps and rolls because I've always thought this style of club juggling looks dope thanks to the people mentioned in the video. I would like to especially thank Jorge Vilchis and Yerel Ahumada who are two great friends of mine who helped me in the beginning. I started by following their styles and I wouldn't have created most of my tricks if it wasn't for them. Lastly, I would like to point out that the reason I progressed so fast was that I focused on these types of tricks, and because of that I can't even do backcrosses or juggle 4 clubs LoL. Trick With Hats: Two handed tumble

TricksWithHats

Hold the hat with the crown to the outside in an outside grip. Bring it across the body, and cross the arms. Flick the hat over and drop it onto the thumb of the catching hand. Uncross the arms. The hat is now held in an outside grip in the other hand, which suggests that the tumble would be a good next move.

Tricks With Hats: Back Roll (One handed)

TricksWithHats

Back Roll (One handed) - Rolling the hat across your back from one side to the other. This trick is the one handed version of Back Rolls Hold the had in an Inside grip, with the thumb in a straight line with the forearm. Bend over at the waist, swing the arm across the body, and up under the armpit. Flick the wrist at the last moment to help with the spin. Look out to the side, and GRAB! Haggis' Hot Tip: If you can get the hat to bounce oll on the catching arm as it comes off of your back, this will slow things down a bit. From the TricksWithHats archive

Tricks With Hats: Back Rolls

TricksWithHats

Back Rolls - Bend forward and roll the hat across the back. Hold the hat with the crown facing backwards in an inside grip. Bend the body forward from the waist and swing the hat across the body tucking the hand into the arm pit.Let the hat roll across the back, aiming for the opposite shoulder. Turn the head to the right and watch the hat as it drops off the shoulder. Catch it in an inside grip with the left hand. If the hat is difficult to catch then you are probably throwing it too hard. Learn this trick with both hands, as it looks nice if you roll the hat back and forth across the back. From the TricksWithHats archive

Tricks With Hats: Chest spin

TricksWithHats

Chest spin - Spin the hat down the arm, across the chest and out along the other arm. Hold the hat crown down in a outside grip. Flick the wrist inwards as hard as you can so that the hat spins fast and strikes the inside of the wrist. Allow the spin of the hat to carry it across the body and along the other arm. Catch the crown as it reaches the other hand. From the TricksWithHats archive

Tricks With Hats: Screwdriver Isolation

TricksWithHats

First learn the Screwdriver When that move flows easily simply "twiddle" the hat as you learnt with that trick, and hold the hat as still as you can while you move your body around it.

Tricks With Hats: The Shuffle

TricksWithHats

The Shuffle - Another three hat juggling trick - this time it's the half shower This is a variation of a jugglers' trick called the Half Shower. Start with one hat on the head, and one in each hand, held in an outside grip. Throw one hat across the body, flat, with no spin. As soon as you've let go of this hat, take off the one on your head with your now-empty hand. The other hand slaps/places its hat onto the head, just in the nick of time to then catch the first (thrown) hat. You should now be back where you started. The timing is a little odd for this one, but just remember "Throw.... take....place....catch", and you'll get it. From the TricksWithHats archive

Tricks With Hats: Throw to Head

TricksWithHats

Hold your hat crown up in an inside grip with the fingers spread as wide as you can. Throw the hat gently towards your head with a bit of spin. Look up towards the hat as it spins and move your body (and feet if necessary) so that your head is beneath it. As the hat lands, nod your head forward so that you are looking straight ahead.

Tutorial: 3 Count Behind the Head Passing

Mike

Our entry for the IJA tutorial contest: 3 count behind the head passing. It's a fun pattern we came up with in January, and the concept of using 180s with directional body throws make it a concept ripe for variation./nIf you enjoyed it, please vote for us in the IJA tutorial contest! We'd really like to make it out to the convention this year =)
