I liked how this one turned out. It's not my usual style of 1 straight take, this one has edits. I had to do edits for various reason. I also forgot a trick I can do very well, behind the back catches with my new toys, and I'm mad I forgot that since I spent a good 3 days straight practicing it. Like I said in the intro, I've only been doing rings for 2 weeks (well 2 weeks and 2 days) and I pretty much haven't done anything at all except them.

"The French Connection" is a juggling video by Piet van Steen and Albrecht Brunner featuring 16 jugglers from France and Germany. It contains tricks of juggling, passing and balancing, rolling and siteswaping. All the money from the selling goes into the organisation of the first Juggling Convention in Halle. I made this video because I wanted to try putting some effort into the production side of things and because I had a bunch of clips I wanted to show certain individuals. Because I had no one in particular in mind to show all of this stuff to, the video has an ADHD feel to it that I like. For the record, the juggling here is pretty respectably difficult, the straps are respectably intermediate, and the wheel stuff is laughably simple. This is in line with how often I practice each of them as well as the total length of time I've been working on each.

In case you are wondering why everything's so Japanese about the video, the reason is because we wanted to convey the message that we are very influenced by their juggling in a different way. The main idea of the video is not to copy tricks from Japanese people, but to show variations and tricks that we made based on their tricks. Here's the 5-ball siteswap 10 5 5 5 5 0 (a55550) done two different ways. First the 10 is a high throw, and the 0 is demonstrated with an open palm, and then the 10 is tossed to a kickup and back into the pattern.

A good place to start before moving onto the steve. Do a neck roll and as the staff comes around onto your shoulder, drop that shoulder and let the staff roll onto your arm. Raise your arm with the staff (when the staff gets onto your arm it should be just below shoulder height, when the staff finnishes in your hand it should be just above head height) so that it rolls up it and into your hand.

My First Diabolo Video

me and tony where experimenting with early quads and quints, we managed to put an early quad into 6 club 4 count but only got the 5 club version on video, the ceiling wasnt high enough for quints.

This came about through me and Tim messing about with antispin contact ideas and trying to work out how to antispin a fishtail. We came up with the antispin fishtail fountain and realised it could be done without antispin (obviously). Surprisingly the antispin version is easier as it doesn't try to fly off your hand as much. Starting in reverse do 1 beat behind you then go straight into a 180 fishtail carry downwards and in a straight line. Because it's antispin you need to move pretty fast in straight lines. When you get to the other side move your hand straight up and then straight across. This needs to be done in 1 beat. Try going through this holding the staff to your hand before fishtailing it to get used to feeling the path of spin.

Notation: __1__2__3 A: ps ps ps ->B B: ps ss ps ->C C: ss ps ss -> A M: sC iA cB -> M The feeder is "A", the juggler to the feeder's left is "B" and the juggler to the feeder's right is "C". The feeder counts "1 2 3" to make it easier to keep track of where we are in the pattern. On beats 1 and 3, A (the feeder) and B exchange a pass. On beat 2, A and C exchange a pass. On 3, juggler B catches the carried pass and walks on four count (rotating the positions anti-clockwise). 1. "sC": The manipulator substitutes a self from C to C. This takes place while the juggler is walking on four count. 2. "iA": The manipulator (M) intercepts a the pass from C to A. The juggler who was A is the new manipulator, and reads from the manipulator line. The old manipulator, reads A's line. 3. "cB": The manipulator carries a club to B. We found it useful for the manipulator (who was the feeder for 1 and 2) to say 3 during the carry, for continuity. All the jugglers are re-labeled and the new feeder starts counting the 3 passes. Panto gets it's name from the pass from A to B on beat 1, the club is quite close to the back of the manipulators head (He's behind you!).

This is an intermediate class about hat juggling technique. I recommend you already know some basic moves. I just want to share a few important technical pointers about hand grips, tosses, and the kick up. Your hat game is about to level up!
