This is my summer 2010 juggling video. Unlike my last one, this thing is just juggling, none of those other distractions. The summer went a little off plan and for that reason I didn't get to juggle nearly as much as I had intended to. /nMy biggest problem was that I decided I was going to run 50 miles on August 1st. So all through June and July I was running a lot. . . like way more than you should, about 80 to 100 miles a week. Most every day I was juggling for a few hours, then running for a few hours, then studying for a few hours, then eating for a while. It turns out that it's bad for your body to do that. I lost 15 lbs in 4 weeks while I was eating 10,000 calories a day. As a result I wound up really immune compromised and I got shingles in late July. Shingles in very painful so I had to stop running and at that point I gained about a pound a day for almost 2 weeks. For those of you who have never experienced rapid weight fluctuations, they suck. I like this clip because it starts with the rarely seen ball & sticks (Japanese origin).

The hatstand made its debut at chocfest 7, where I was compering. After a period of prototyping and refining, I built the version that worked. I demoed this a couple of times then it broke. I replaced the elastic and set it up for the big day, used it on stage and it worked, then broke next time I used it.
Be prepared to spend significant tinkering time in between uses, and for frequent breakdowns. That said, it's never let me down when I've needed it.
All in all I've found it a great way to get chicks[1], if you don't count the long evenings spent honing the design and strewing the house with geeky construction equipment, and the fact you'll be laughed out of most nightclubs if you go in wearing a topper. But on stage it works, and it has drawn admiring glances from fellow jugglers and even won us a bag full of croissants on one occasion.

Despina Kehaiova (15 yrs) hula hoops at 10th Cirque de Demain 1987. Silver medal
In the same year, she competed at the Monte Carlo Circus Festival as topmounter for the Kehaiova teeterboard troupe. They won a silver clown.
Sadly she died in 2004, aged 32, when her aerial silk rigging failed while performing with Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey.

Evgeni Biljauer (b. 1947) was one of the 3 top Russian solo jugglers in the latter part of the 20th Century.
This clip is from a TV special called The Great Russian Circus Spectacular. I don't know the actual date, but his age (and clothes) put it in the early 1970s.

I filmed this during a practise session yesterday. All the clips together are a little story, whenever I film a pracitse session from now on I will continue the story from where I stopped in the last video.
Somtimes I skipped parts of the story (e.g. when I am at a differerent place in the next clip suddenly. This would be too boring to watch, so it's a story where some parts are missing. You will know what I mean if you watch the video ;))
