Monterrey Jam feat. Cinthia Buitrón “La Flaka”

lucasadverse

As a continuation to my “jam” video series, I was able to collab with another prominent Mexican juggler during my study abroad experience in Mexico. This time I have a female juggler for the first time in this series, and I am very honoured that this juggler is La Flaka. La Flaka is known for being the first (or only) juggler in the history to explore the top-of-the-head balance in the midst of tricks. Before her, jugglers had done patterns while holding that club balance, but no one was ever able to actually integrate the top-of-the-head balance with different siteswaps and body rolls. After hanging out with the Unicirclo Laguna crew in Monterrey for a week, I noticed the potential for modern passing tricks with her and I decided to visit them once again in order to record this video. Thank you Tinoco, Flaka and Leonardo Icaza for making this possible and for being extremely kind and welcoming! Full video with better quality and more details on YouTube!

Tex Glanville - bottle & plate ca.1940?

bad1dobby

Australian variety performer Tex Glanville, showing his bottle & plate routine. Bottle & plate was one of the routines of the gentleman jugglers, and is mentioned in some of the old juggling books, but is not common today. Tex was an exceptional rope-spinner, as well as a juggler and slackwire artist. He also made home movies of other performers - 'Elimar the genius juggler', #832 on this site, is one of his. The date is an estimation.

Here's the way computers use the state-space to generate transition sequences ... and why that way doesn't work for people! Plus, there's a human-based way if you know of or can come up with a trick that has states in common with the two tricks you wish to transition between. /nPlease note that even if tricks have different levels of excitation, but nevertheless share states with one another, you can just go from the middle of one trick to the middle of the other (or wherever the tricks share the common state), without any "extra" throws.

Spirit Bomb Yo-Yo Trick / non-breakaway - Luke Renner (no audio)

stringslingernm

Spirit Bomb Yo-Yo Trick Instructional Video demonstrated by Luke Renner. Note: this video uses a non-breakaway mount. The breakaway is the standard throw for the trick. If you're learning tricks for a sports ladder contest practice the breakaway toss to start the trick the other steps are the same. The forward pass throw used in this demonstration gives extra momentum and spin time for completing the trick. The audio is intentionally left out on this video. Yo-Yo used in the demo is a Yoyofactory Speed Dial. Footage shot in Northwest New Mexico on 8/28/10 by Filmmakers George Thomas and Thomas LaRue. Trick details: Spirit Bomb is a yo-yo trick originated by Jeff Longoria. Trick name originates from the game Dragon Ball Z. Special Thanks and recognition to Ken's World-on-a-String, Sector-Y and all of the sites that pioneered and continue promote the "Art of Yo!" through videos on the web

Collisions on Crosby

hexagonic

I've been working on collisions (as I like to call them) for about three years now. In essence it's when two (or more) balls hit each other. I've also been playing around with taps (where you tap the ball(s) with your hand); this video has most of the three ball tricks I've learnt. Filmed on Crosby Beach, near Liverpool in September 2014. Music is "Trick" by The Rainstick Orchestra

I am the very model of a Modern British Juggler

MatthewTiffany

I am the very model of a modern British juggler, Experienced as thrower, catcher, balancer and spinner-er I know the lazy juggler and I quote the fights historical The loses of Jon peat to brook in order categorical. I’m very well acquainted too with matters mathematical I understand notations both the siteswap and beatmap-able About the other props you ask I’m teeming with a lot of news (hhhmmmm, lot of news, that’s a tough one) With many cheerful facts about what Kendama the Void will use. I’m very good at throwing high like DB97531 I know the algorithms and find rubix cube a lot of fun In short in matters thrower, catcher, balancer and spinner-er I am the very model of a modern British juggler. I know our mythic history Vid Warren in the renegade I saw Tom Derricks rosie cheeks those memories will never fade Out camping in the freezing cold it always seems to smell of grass I even read Jay Linn’s great post about that night with Chris passé passe.
