juggle_sensei

Ori Roth and company asked to put together a little something for the Israel Juggling Convention, so I threw this together with the wonderful assistance of my lovely wife and Choji-kun at school. Seeing as I'm going to the British Juggling Convention right before Israel, and given that I'm teaching similar workshops at both gatherings, I thought I would kill two birds with one stone. Note: I'll be teaching a similar set at Barullo in Mexico in June! Banzai!

Mr Jumpshoe single trick #1

MrJumpshoe

Just a single trick because I can't really do an edit right now (I have RSI or something). From big cup, the trick goes: juggle to lighthouse - fast-hand big cup - big cup juggle - 2x arm bounce - spike - earth turn to bird fly over the valley - fast-hand 1-turn lunar - spike. Enjoy!

Nagoya Jam - ジャグ練 feat. Hirota

lucasadverse

I'm studying in Japan and luckily I'm staying in the same city as Hirota. Since we can easily meet and our juggling styles fit each other we decided to make this video. He is a huge inspiration to me since I started juggling, so meeting him and recording this video was an honour to me. Check out Hirota's channel and his instagram: https://www.youtube.com/user/3hirota https://www.instagram.com/3hirota My instagram and facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/jugglingadverse https://www.instagram.com/lucasadverse Music: Koan Sound - Sly Fox Location: Meijō Kōen, Nagoya (Japan). Just in case you are wondering what happened in the end: I dropped right before the last catch but he didn't notice, so after he celebrated he realized that I'd dropped it and he said "I know that feeling (when you drop right before the last catch)". Thank you for watching!

Neck Roll Armpit Catch

Sandy

This was the first move i learnt, it bruised my shoulder for about 2 weeks learning it but it gave me a good understanding of how a staff behaves on my back. Do a neck roll fairly horizontally and when you can see the staff coming round in the corner of your eye, lean to the left and bring your right shoulder up and catch under your arm with your right hand. After you've got this move try a 1/4 steve.

Overhead Fishtails

Sandy

From forward with the right hand when the staff comes in front of you start the movement off as if you were going to do a 180 fishtail, but instead of taking the staff behind you (on the other side) you do a quick 360 and tuck your hand behind your head then go back into forward fishtails (it feels a bit like you untwisting your body underneth the staff). p.s. you don't really need to hold your chest wheil doing this move

Panto: Aidan Burns' Scrambled V Variation (sC iA cB)

TLMB

Panto, juggled by Graham, Joanne, Danny and Ed. Part of the Aidan Burns Project to juggle all 27 of his variations to the Scrambled V. Notation: __1__2__3 A: ps ps ps ->B B: ps ss ps ->C C: ss ps ss -> A M: sC iA cB -> M The feeder is "A", the juggler to the feeder's left is "B" and the juggler to the feeder's right is "C". The feeder counts "1 2 3" to make it easier to keep track of where we are in the pattern. On beats 1 and 3, A (the feeder) and B exchange a pass. On beat 2, A and C exchange a pass. On 3, juggler B catches the carried pass and walks on four count (rotating the positions anti-clockwise). 1. "sC": The manipulator substitutes a self from C to C. This takes place while the juggler is walking on four count. 2. "iA": The manipulator (M) intercepts a the pass from C to A. The juggler who was A is the new manipulator, and reads from the manipulator line. The old manipulator, reads A's line. 3. "cB": The manipulator carries a club to B. We found it useful for the manipulator (who was the feeder for 1 and 2) to say 3 during the carry, for continuity. All the jugglers are re-labeled and the new feeder starts counting the 3 passes. Panto gets it's name from the pass from A to B on beat 1, the club is quite close to the back of the manipulators head (He's behind you!).

"sA": The manipulator substitutes a pass from C to A. 3. "iA": The manipulator (M) intercepts a the pass from B to A. The juggler who was A is the new manipulator, and reads from the manipulator line. All the jugglers are relabeled and the new feeder starts counting the 3 passes. We start the pattern with an unmanipulated pass on beat 1 and on beat 2 with sA. Once the pattern is running the sA happens while M stands close to the Feeder. It is still a substitution, but Feedee C really has to pass to M.

Quarter Steve Neck Wrap

Sandy

I like this move because people don't normally expect you to go back up the same arm you came down. As the staff is on your neck let it do an extra spin on your back and lean to your left and back so it comes round in front of you. Then lean to the right so it throat wraps back to your left shoulder and hold your arm out and swing it backwards so the staff rolls back up your arm.

Rob Murray in the 1940s

Archive

Home movie footage of Rob Murray practising in a garden. In his later years, Murray was known for his laid-back style of comedy juggling, so it is interesting to see him working on more technical tricks here, including 6 & 7 balls. Music is "Ultrafox" by Django Reinhart, tacked on purely because it was the right era, and the right length. Much thanks to Topper and LP for helping to bring this clip to light. Believed to have been filmed by Tex Glanville.

wow, for such a quick trick this is really hard and doesn't even look that good. sure is fun when you land it though. right wrap->left unwrap->push on string with right hand, stick in front of string, let go of sticks->catch string of the sticks in their original hands, and you're in crackers position.

Sean McKinney Freestyle Competition 2007 - David Kha

happysmurfday

When I arrived at the Pacific Northwest Juggling Convention in Corvallis I had no intentions of entering any competitions. Reluctantly I agreed to participate, not really knowing who Sean McKinney was. After watching the other performers, I was sure I didn't win and went up to the Balcony to watch the rest of the show. They announced me as the winner just as I had come down for a drink of water. They gave me the coolest juggling trophy I've ever seen! Since then I've done my homework on McKinney and spent some time with the people who knew him and decided I probably was the right person for this particular competition.
