I strayed away from my faster, electronica-based, style of editing to pursue something more relaxed in my last few videos. For my first personal video of the year (and my first ever solo video as director and not cameraman), I wanted to revisit this style with my recent progress in videography. I am very happy with the result. Filmed with a Canon T3i (600D), edited in Final Cut Pro X. Here's the way computers use the state-space to generate transition sequences ... and why that way doesn't work for people! Plus, there's a human-based way if you know of or can come up with a trick that has states in common with the two tricks you wish to transition between. /nPlease note that even if tricks have different levels of excitation, but nevertheless share states with one another, you can just go from the middle of one trick to the middle of the other (or wherever the tricks share the common state), without any "extra" throws.

3 ball stack progress 3 - plus machine learning

peterbone

Getting closer to my goal of 10 seconds. The images at the start from left to right are Enrico Rastelli (1920s), Leon Rabello (1936) and Paolo Bedini (1943). The machine learning shows a genetic algorithm evolving a multi-layer perceptron neural network controller to perform the balance in 2 dimensions. A 2D rigid-body physics engine was used for the simulation. The performance of each trial was assessed based on the time balanced and the average 'uprightness' of the stack over the duration of the balance. http://www.mathworks.co.uk/matlabcentral/fileexchange/36911-machine-learning-balancing-a-stack-of-balls

48 Hours of Practice - 6 - Feel Flux

Reeses2150

The Feel Flux! A new skilltoy off kickstarter based on a powerful magnetic ball, which thanks to science, falls slowly through the tube, and hence, you can throw it back up when it reached the bottom, and then who knows what from there! After receiving one after the WJF convention this year, this is the end of my first 48 hours with the thing. feelflux.com for more information

4x2er

Aaron

(4x,2)*er features 65 patterns based on the siteswap (4x,2)* performed by 22 jugglers. It's filmed in four countries and features lots of juggling celebrities - it's also pretty funny (that's my opinion of course and I made the video so, whatever).

Archaos - Didier & Fabian

bad1dobby

Master/beast club passing act - Didier Andre & Fabian Alberola - in Archaos "The Last Show on Earth" Australia 1992 The strongest character-based juggling act I've seen. Skill level was high for its time (5 clubs each, solid 8 club pass), the act is beautifully constructed, and it rocked the show every night I saw it.

Around Ireland

shalafi

Around the... kendama tricks are combinations of cups and spike. This is the one I call "Around Ireland" Small Cup ~ Base Cup ~ Spike./nBecause Ireland is a small island, it makes sense that the combination is short; so are Around Japan and Around Britain./nIn fact Around Ireland uses the same cups as Around Britain but in reverse order, because reasons.

Best Method: Throw Sequence (Brute Force) Transitions

btiemann

If you want to only watch one, watch this one. /nHere's a method to generate siteswap transitions based on where all the balls actually land; making them all work out amounts to creating a sequence. This is my favorite method, and it produces rather easily, all the possible transitions within the context of the throws that you've decided to mess with, either out of necessity (when throws collide) or by choice (when they don't). /nIf you're trying to come up with a way to write an algorithm for producing transitions, I would suggest that this way is the best way. It's deterministic, for one, and it's comprehensive, for another. /nThis is part 1... stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion!!

Boulder Rock Juggling

Filthy999

Filmed at a bouldering spot just east of Perth innovatively called "Boulder Rock". The music is Illusion by VNV Nation. The five main sequences show different families of siteswaps involving 1 or 2 high throws and juggling 4 or 3 balls underneath. The final 3 sequences involve different tricks with the lower balls, and the 4th sequence uses 75814 as the base pattern rather than 5. Exact tricks for the final 3 sequences are: 3rd: 75751, 758514, 7595153, 75a51633, 75b517531, 75c5157413 4th: 7571, 75814, 759144, 75a1534, 75b16451, 75c173451 5th: 753, 8642, 97531, a85511, b963141
