Dolby 7.1 Tutorial

Ed_Clark

Dolby 7.1 is the latest in the series of patterns that have manipulation similar to the classic Dolby Söround http://juggling.tv/1742 In this new pattern, we add a club to the Dolby 5.1 pattern, first shown http://juggling.tv/16656 Dolby 5.1, Dolby 5.2 and Dolby 7.1 were all composed together as a set. Seeing as Dolby 7.1 is another step up in the difficulty of manipulator patterns I've not gone with a standard pattern video, but instead added some training patterns - like a workshop. Workshop tips: 1. Keep the tempo slow when you are throwing the heffs - you are controlling the pattern speed. 2. The manipulation needs to be a little faster than you might do it in Dolby 5.1, as the tempo is set by the dwell+height of the heffs. Slow manipulation can introduce timing problems for catching the 4p4p. 3. Heffs (4) and double passes (4p) must be the same height in order to keep good timing. 4. The pattern is synchronous.

Tricks With Hats: Front Spin

TricksWithHats

Grip the front of the crown of the hat and remove it from the head. Hold the hat vertically and spin it outwards while pushing the hat up with the finger tips. After one spin catch the hat in an outside grip. With a bit of extra practice you can do this with two or three spins or do it in "slow motion".

Trick With Hats - Vanishing Foot

TricksWithHats

This is surprisingly effective when done well, it can really look like your leg has dissapeared! Unfortunately it's very angle sensetive, it only really works when viewed from the front. Incase you can't work it out from the video, here's how you do it. Hold the hat by the brim, with the opening resting against the top of your thigh, move it down until it covers your foot and hides it from view. As you raise the hat again, bend your leg at the knee. Et voila! Your leg has vanished! Lower the hat again, straightening your leg as you do so. Ooh look! Your leg has re-appeared! Top tips: Only raise the hat as far as your knee, and keep your foot hidden behind your thigh. A few minutes practice infront of a mirror and you'll soon get the hang of it. Bonus points: Make both legs dissapear, at the same time...

Tricks With Hats: Steve Rawlings Twisty Hat Catch

TricksWithHats

Steve Rawlings showed me this trick in Birmingham and said that he used to do it in every show, but now that he's older (and a little rounder :-) he can't get it every time any more. Steve uses a china plate for this trick, but it works with hats too which is why it's here! :-) Take the hat in your right hand, using an inside grip and hold it so that the crown of the hat is facing to the left. Throw the hat virtically with some spin, and then do the following while the hat is in the air... Put your right hand between your legs Take the hand around the back of the right leg Stand on your left leg and move the right hand & foot behind the left leg Then, catch the descending hat in your right hand, from that position. Without falling over. Top Tips: Practice the "tangle yourself up" bit first without the catch. Keep your eye on the hat as it decends, practice loads... Luke Burrage managed to get this on video within 30 minutes. I've been trying for weeks and can't do it. It's pretty hard.

Blind Overheads.

punkgirl13

Hi! As I get better and better at this trick I decided to make a quick video with the few first variations I'm doing and some practice tips. I hope that this will inspire some people to start practicing it, as I only know of very few who can do it. I included a list of people that I know of below, if you know more feel free to msg me or comment on the video. Also, if you have ideas for other variations then I would love to hear those! Other people doing the trick: Joelle Huguenin: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxrCT6Cx0kI Julien Clement in the DVD "Object Episodes - Never Give Up" (very solid change from bbb to blind overheads) Chris Hodge: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrnlZD713Ig Christian? from Germany: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZANJo88J074 at around 1:30.
