I posted this in support of the Contact Juggling community. I haven't made a pure contact video in a while and I thought it was necessary. Fushigi and its ridiculous marketing/business tactics have taken a lot away from the contact juggling community recently. Things like respect, respect for the fact that we spend years on this stuff. I personally have lots of hard work, study, creativity (i like to think so), and sometimes pain (see, hard work) into this activity. I know many others have too, and I don't like seeing my friend upset over this attempted re-branding and simplification of our art/whatever./nSo I just wanted to say I am not going to admit defeat to this B.S. I'm still going to progress and do what I like and so should everyone else. Synthetic is a film displaying the new work of Wes Peden. The material was inspired, in a concrete way, by the strength of each prop and how to best take advantage of these qualities. The general aesthetic of the juggling was particularly influences by asymmetry, clarity, and trick shape.

I've been wanting to go to a juggling club for a long time, but the closest one is and hour and a half away. Well, it's been really rainy this weeks so my dad thought we could make the trip. I had a blast with my sister Lilly and all the other guys at the club. I learned a ton of new juggling passing patterns that I've never had a chance to do.

Although so many things went wrong, I still think this turned out rather well.
In the 3 ball part, I went 2 minutes and 40 seconds without a drop, which is good because when I did drop it, I was done anyway. And try to ignore the hiss, I couldn't get rid of it, but I think later on it just went away.
I did something special for part 2, I won't spoil it, but it sucked getting that right, and it still wasn't as good as I had hoped. Yes I shook the camera and didn't realize it, but after that it went alright. although my hand was in the way for one of the tricks, (hint, inside elbow stall, then again rolling it to the fingers).
Contact juggling, for the first 2 parts I was standing on some cloths because of the squeaky floorboard I was on. In this part I decided to take them away so I can stand level on the floor....and you can hear the results. If you can get past the floorboard, then I did pretty good....in the beginning. It's weird, I purposely put the hard tricks in the beginning so if I kept messing up

Howdy folks,
This is a video of me on Ringling Bros. Circus doing my 20 Cigar Box Slap Stack.
I did this act for the entire 2001 tour.
In Rings 2 and 3 there are 2 elephants, and in Ring 1 is me (I think I did very well of keeping my audience!).
I was a studier of Friesch. and He is where I got this from.
This was filmed in Knoxville Tn.on February 16th, 2001.
It was filmed by my aunt Ann Hughes.
She was visiting the show with my Mom and my aunt Susan.
Ann passed away of cancer in 2006.

I strayed away from my faster, electronica-based, style of editing to pursue something more relaxed in my last few videos.
For my first personal video of the year (and my first ever solo video as director and not cameraman), I wanted to revisit this style with my recent progress in videography.
I am very happy with the result.
Filmed with a Canon T3i (600D), edited in Final Cut Pro X.

The Wally-Walk was created by the juggling group, Manic Expressions, who came from our home, Appalachian State, and won the national team passing championship in 1987 (somewhere around there). In honor of them and the great juggling history here in Boone, NC we have brought back the Wally-Walk. Enjoy and share!

Spirit Bomb Yo-Yo Trick Instructional Video demonstrated by Luke Renner. Note: this video uses a non-breakaway mount. The breakaway is the standard throw for the trick. If you're learning tricks for a sports ladder contest practice the breakaway toss to start the trick the other steps are the same. The forward pass throw used in this demonstration gives extra momentum and spin time for completing the trick. The audio is intentionally left out on this video.

Hold the hat by the brim with your left hand so that the crown of the hat is facing away from you. Take the stick in your right hand.
With a flick of your wrist, throw the hat up slightly so that it starts spinning anti-clockwise. As the hat descends, hit the brim with the stick slightly to the right of center, such that the stick curves slightly upwards and outwards. This will cause the hat to spin as it rises into the air. As it descends again, repeat the hitting action.
The idea of the basic spin is to keep the hat in the air by hitting it repeatedly with the stick in this manner. I find it helps if you look at the top portion of the inside of the hat.
Adjusting the spin rate and direction:
Hitting the hat nearer the center will give you a slower spin and more height, nearer the edge will give you a faster spin but less height. Obviously striking the left side of the brim will reverse the spin and cause the hat to go clockwise.
